Collapsible content

Galactagogue Blend

A blend of five milk boosting foods.

Fenugreek & Fennel contain a compound called diosgenin which supports prolactin production, a hormone involved in promoting and establishing your milk supply. One study reported a significant increase in milk supply after supplementing with fenugreek during early lactation. Another study found increased blood levels of prolactin & milk supply in breastfeeding mums after consuming fennel. Animal models have also suggested fenugreek supports the “let down reflex” by increasing oxytocin.

Blessed Thistle stimulates blood flow to your breasts to improve milk supply.  Nettle and Brewers Yeast are filled with essential nutrients like B-Vitamins and Iron to support the nutritional demands of breastfeeding. This comprehensive lactation blend is the reason why Lactation Boost may help increase your milk supply.

Protein

Collagen and hemp protein for energy, weight loss and milk supply.

The recommended dietary intake of protein while breastfeeding is 67g daily.

Studies have shown that your protein intake while breastfeeding, influences the nutritional composition of your breastmilk, increasing availability of amino acids for newborn growth.

Protein also supports healthy weight loss while breastfeeding, by balancing blood sugar and enhancing your metabolism. Finally, protein promotes postnatal wellbeing and mood, by assisting in the production of neurotransmitters like your happy hormone serotonin & motivation boosting hormone, dopamine.

Great food sources of protein to add into your breastfeeding diet include lean meats, seafood, eggs, nuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds legumes and of course, our Lactation Boost Breastfeeding Protein Powder, containing 13.6g of protein per serve.

Sunflower Lecithin

Prevents blocked milk ducts while breastfeeding.

Sunflower lecithin provides amazing support to breastfeeding mums who persistently struggle with blocked milk ducts. It contains a blend of fatty acids that works to emulsify "sticky" breastmilk, improving flow and may reduce blocked ducts. Sunflower lecithin is also a source of choline needed to support brain function in mum and baby. The recommended dietary intake of Choline while breastfeeding is 500mg daily. Choline rich foods include eggs, liver, peanuts, mushrooms and of course our Lactation Boost Breastfeeding Protein Powder, containing 1450mg of Non-GMO sunflower lecithin and 25mg of choline.

B Vitamins & Iron

To boost your energy & mood postpartum.

B Vitamins including B1 and B6 are used by your cells to boost available energy in your body, reducing postpartum fatigue. They also help make serotonin, your happy hormone, supporting postnatal mood. Vitamin B12 may reduce postnatal anxiety and improve Iron absorption.Iron promotes postnatal mental wellbeing, with iron deficiency during the postpartum period increasing risk of postnatal depression.

The recommended dietary intake of Iron as a breastfeeding mum is 18mg. Dietary sources of Iron include red meat, lentils, liver, eggs, leafy greens, nuts and our Lactation Boost & Mothers Boost Postpartum Proteins.

Calcium & Magnesium

Enhance bone health & regulate milk supply during your period.

As a breastfeeding mum, you loose between 200-300mg of calcium daily in your breastmilk to support the growth of your baby. If your diet is low in calcium, your body will 'dissolve' your bones to release calcium into your breastmilk, in a process called bone resorption. Inadequate calcium intake increases your risk of osteoporosis after menopause. A calcium rich diet while breastfeeding can minimise bone loss, if your intake is less 500mg daily.

Breastfeeding mums can also experience a decrease in milk supply when their menstrual cycle returns. This is because your calcium levels drop during your period impacting your breastmilk volume. Taking Calcium alongside Magnesium to promote uptake, can help to maintain your milk supply during your period.

The recommended dietary intake of calcium while breastfeeding is 1,000mg. Food sources include dairy, tofu, tahini, dried figs, chia seeds. Lactation Boost Protein Powder, provides 210mg of calcium and 130mg of magnesium per serve.

Iodine

Promotes infant development & postpartum thyroid health.

Prioritising iodine in your diet as a breastfeeding mum will support the cognitive development and growth of your baby. Your breastmilk is the only source of iodine your baby receives, until solids are introduced at 6 months. If you have low dietary iodine, your breastmilk will have a lower concentration. Iodine also supports postpartum thyroid health.Your thyroid regulates hair growth and cognition, with suboptimal function influencing postpartum hair loss and 'mum brain'. The recommended dietary intake of iodine while breastfeeding is 270 µg. Food sources include salmon, eggs, dairy, seaweed, iodised salt and our Lactation Boost Protein Powder, providing 75 µg of iodine per serve

Delicious & Nutritious

It's as easy as adding 3 tbsp of Lactation Boost into smoothies, oats, yoghurt, chia pudding, bliss balls, brownies, pancakes, cookies and yes, even hot chocolate.
