Recipe: Homemade Activated Spiced Granola

Who doesn't love a delicious granola recipe? 

This granola is not only "activated" (for better digestion and nutrient absorption) but includes a range of warming spices to support recovery during your postpartum period. This is SUCH an easy recipe to make, and can be made in bulk and stored in an air tight container for up to 1 month. 

Preparing food for your postpartum period is one of the most essential things you can do to help support not only your transition into motherhood but your recovery as well. By stocking up on pantry essentials and freezing wholesome, nourishing meals- you'll always have a good, nutritious meal to enjoy at the end of the day. 

You can enjoy this granola over greek yoghurt, coconut yoghurt, sprinkled on some homemade custard, cooked rolled oats or even by its self!

Homemade Granola

Activated Spiced Granola 

Serves: 10 Time: 30mins 

Ingredients: 

1 1/2 cups oats

1 cup activated walnuts, crushed

1⁄2 cup activated brazil nuts, crushed

1⁄4 cup pepitas

1⁄2 cup goji berries

1/2 cup dried cranberries

4 tbsp hemp seeds 

3/4 cup brown rice malt syrup

2 tbsp coconut oil

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 pinch sea salt

 

Directions: 

 1. Preheat oven to 200C, fan forced & line a large baking tray with baking paper

2. Combine all ingredients together in a bowl until well mixed

3. Spread the mixture thinly and evenly across the baking tray

4. Bake in oven for 20 mins until lightly toasted and golden

5. Let cool and store in an airtight container for up to 1 month
